It’s the stretch drive of the California recall campaign, with just one week left to cast your ballot. The top candidates are in an all-out media blitz now, crisscrossing California with a wide range of events. Today, Governor Newsom campaigned in San Francisco at a phone bank trying to turn out Latino voters. Larry Elder had two news conferences, blasting Newsom for the high cost of living and the increases in the gas tax on Newsom’s watch. John Cox is on a bus tour through the Central Valley. Kevin Faulconer focused on crime, with a Zoom event with victims’ advocate Marc Klaas. All of this, as financial reports, public opinion polls and the ballot return numbers suggest Governor Newsom has the upper hand, and seems increasingly likely to survive the recall.
