The Indians had one season over .500 in the 80s, and it could not have come at a worse time. In 1986, 87, and 88 the top prep player in the draft came from Ohio and every single one made it to the majors and played for multiple seasons. Since then there have been just two players from the Ohio high school ranks to go in the first round. Sadly, the Indians drafted the worst of that trio and how they could have ended up with a game changing talent if not for the fact they choose the worst year to be decent. As in both 85 and 87 the Indians had the worst record in the AL, and 86 is where the Hall of Fame talent was available.
