The believers of the first century, much like believers today, faced a culture that was hostile to the gospel message. Peter encourages them by reminding them that our time on earth is short, and that all of us, including those who malign Christ and his church, will one day stand before God. Believers ought to remember the awesome God that we serve and then live every day for him.
