On this very special episode we have Cheky Bertho a.k.a Algodón Egipcio in the studio. One of the most important and recognizable names from Venezuela’s indie scene, Algodón Egipcio relocated to Mexico City nearly 2 years ago in search of growth and opportunity away from home. Cheky leads us through his tropical Venezuelan upbringing, knowing and working with local Caracas-based musicians (including pre-superstar Arca), and the day-to-day challenges of being a proud Afro-Latino in a continent that values whiteness and dismisses anti-blackness as a gringo problem.
