By Dan Taylor in Lubbock, TX - September 25, 2023 - When we think about the Day of Atonement in the Old Testament, we probably think of a lot of details and rituals to observe. There are a lot of requirements listed in Leviticus 16. The High Priest, remember, had to be of the tribe of Levi, of the line of Aaron and, on the Day of Atonement, ceremonially pure in order to fulfill His role on behalf of the people that day. When the High Priest went into the Holy of Holies, He held the lives of the whole nation in his hands. If God did not accept the offering on His behalf, He could not proceed any further. If God did not accept the offering of the Goat for Israel, the whole nation would be rejected by God. What does all of this mean for us?
