BitKarrot returns to join Eric FJ and Sync for a conversation about what changes when building software becomes easier—and why owning your infrastructure, communicating clearly and maintaining what you ship still matter.
We begin with the Open Markets community's move to Buzz, shared agents, marketplace-growth data from Nostrology, and the new monthly community-call schedule. Then we revisit Nostrich: its pace of development, open-source code, reliable notifications and growing engagement with marketplace builders.
Sync shares an experiment combining Ghost with Nostr, using familiar email-and-PIN onboarding as a bridge toward owning your keys. BitKarrot walks through HiveTalk's Nostr CMS, Swarm team relay, Blossom media storage and tools for scheduling posts, managing content and running a local meetup on infrastructure you control. We also track down the service that mirrors Nostr posts to X.
From there, we discuss the changing work of developers: feature overload, maintenance, decision fatigue, specifications, learning the language of design and getting more from an AI budget. BitKarrot demonstrates chatjimmy.ai, prompting a small Llama model whose output appears almost instantly. Its incorrect answer to a Nostr question makes the distinction between speed and correctness unusually clear. The discussion expands to Cerebras, local models, software security and what faster inference could change.
In the final section, BitKarrot introduces Infinite Markets, an LNbits extension designed to give merchants one inventory across a web storefront and Nostr marketplaces. We cover Lightning checkout, email notifications, optional anonymous purchasing, NIP-17 messages, Shopify product imports and the interoperability details that determine whether an order actually works. At the time of recording, BitKarrot describes it as an unvetted Python extension and discusses a possible Wasm version. We close with the proposed review process for the Open Markets specification and the move from Gamma Markets references to the Open Markets repository.
