Shavuot (also referred to as "the day of Pentecost") occurs 49 days after the first day of Passover according to Jewish tradition. This is the day referred to in the book of Acts when Peter and the other disciples spoke to the Jewish men gathered to present themselves before God during this Jewish tradition. Surely some had heard of Jesus and this new message of salvation, so once Peter preached, many asked what they could do to be saved.
