Episode 252: Mikael Cook - Afghanistan War Veteran & Author

On this episode, Derek sits with Mikael Cook.  Mikael is a Veteran of the War in Afghanistan and author of the book, “Life and Death at Abbey Gate: The Fall of Afghanistan and the Operation to Save our Allies”.  Mikael will be discussing what inspired him to enlist in the US Army at the age of 26, his deployment to Afghanistan and we will discuss the collapse of the country and how it was reconquered by the Taliban in 5 days.  This resulted in “Operation Digital Dunkirk” which was undertaken to evacuate as many of our Afghan Allies out of Afghanistan before they were killed by the Taliban.  This is an incredible story with tragedy and inspirational moments throughout.
