America has a history of changing the narrative to benefit the powerful, namely, white males. And this is no different. When part of the country stops acknowledging the facts of reality, it creates conflicting definitions of “patriotism” and “heroes.”
They discuss how the actions taken by the terrorists and the inaction of law enforcement are being compared to racial justice protests. When one is trying to overthrow a government, the other is fighting for justice. Yet, there is a large portion of the American population that refuse to recognize the realities of the experiences of the BIPOC community.
Can America move forward? Can we “heal” without honesty?
