- The Cleveland Guardians game against the Chicago White Sox was canceled due to the number of COVID cases among the team. We don’t know the details yet outside of Terry Francona being one of the people who has tested positive. The lack of updated information is a bit concerning regarding the number of potential cases.
- We look at the numbers to talk about what has gone right for the Guardians. The breakout of several young players along with the bullpen transformation has this team looking a lot better than anyone expected. We talk about what has worked and where this team needs to improve.
- We then look into the catcher position which is still the biggest weakness for the Guardians. We talk about Sean Murphy, an Ohio kid who is excelling for the Oakland Athletics. But the cost is likely too great to acquire him, so instead, we focus on the same trade talk with the Chicago Cubs that I have been talking about since November. Ian Happ and Willson Contreras are hitting and adding those two players would transform the Guardians lineup and cost less than a player like Murphy.
