For our TCA9548 QT breakout, we're going to allow switching the QT power and signal between 3 and 5V, so it could be used for level shifting. This means the switch itself will be carrying power - we're not using a separate FET-based switch.
It's reasonable for us to expect about 500mA total current among all of the 'client' boards, and we have a 500mA regulator on board to manage that.
However, that switch has to be spec'd for the voltages and currents we're expecting to pass through it! It's very easy to glide over contact specs for switches if you're used to signal-only usage. Let's find a vertical switch that can handle 5V and up to 500mA total.
