Billy and Brian ask equity consultant Jodi Pfarr:
--"One of the first concepts in your book is the four components of societal systems: individual, organizational, communities, and policies.  Please elaborate."
--"How do societal systems get in the way of our potential."
--"You break down some of these societal systems into 18 pairs of triangles, with one triangle representing what’s normalized and the other representing what’s not normalized, but you make it clear that there isn’t a right/wrong in this--it just comes down to the experiences we’ve had or are currently having.  Please elaborate."
--"One activity you have people do is circle their triangles.  What new levels of awareness come from just that simple step?"
--"You give an example in the book about the woman who grew up speaking Hindi but had mastered the English language yet still spoke with a slight accent, so she circled all of the normalized English but then a corner of the other triangle just to represent that she also fits into that group. What does that say about how we view our experiences and how others may view them?"
--"You co-authored this book with Allison Boisvert, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2015.  In the book, you use the information from your presentations in conjunction with Allison’s experiences.  How does sharing Allison’s experiences enhance one’s understanding of what’s presented in this book?"
--"In the book, you talk about presence, benevolent detachment, and practice.  What do you mean by benevolent detachment?"
--"What are some of the tools that can improve our interactions and lead to more awareness of what’s a normalized experience for some but not normalized for others?"
