We also discussed how parties are scrambling to form coalitions to meet presidential thresholds. Some listeners have requested that I provide background on why political coalitions are even needed and which parties are building them. We keep talking about how Widodo is managing his coalition and how his rival, Prabowo Subianto, is doing the same. But why do they even need coalitions and what’s all the fuss about??
