"Fruit of the Spirit: Joy"
Galatians 5:22 ; Philippians 4:8; John 17:13-15 ESV
God has called you to joy; if, however, your life has no joy, there is disobedience in your walk. To live governed by the Holy Spirit, however, is a calling to joy. To find the Spirit's joy, we must have fellowship with God (John 17:13). In our daily lives, joy experienced through this fellowship extends to our thought life (Phil. 4:8). How can we apply this? Meditate on God's Word and the Gospel, listen to uplifting music, ask the Holy Spirit to expose and purify sin in your life, and spend time talking to God in prayer.
Galatians 5:22-23 English Standard Version (ESV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Philippians 4:8 English Standard Version (ESV)
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
John 17:13-15 English Standard Version (ESV)
13 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.[a]
