Matthew 2:1-12

Main Point: We glorify God by seeking Him above all else.

Being a wise seeker of God means:

1. You move towards HIM. 

• Matthew 2:1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 
• James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
• Isaiah 55:1 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

2. You ask for help in your journey.

• Matthew 2:2a saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? 
• Proverbs 12:15 The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.
• Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

3. You understand God’s value.

• Matthew 2:2b For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
• Matthew 13:45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
• Psalm 96:8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts.
