BCR #45: The Perpetual Retirement

Episode • Jun 7, 2019 • 29m

It was the second podcast recording of the day. As soon as we finished our conversation with two progressive protestors--Mia Pearlman, True Blue NY, and Nan Faesller, Indivisible Harlem--at Gebhards Beer Culture Bar [BCR #48], we Via-ed up to Gabriela's Tequila Bar for a B&A version of our podcast--Becky and Alan just talking.

This time it was about retirement -- which I feel is a wasted dream as one should always be retired - or another way of saying it -- one should always work with love.

We talked a bit about Julia Cameron's books -

  • It's Never Too Late to Begin Again: Discovering Creativity and Meaning at Midlife and Beyond (2016)
  • The Artist's Way (1992)

We also talked about two books by Thich Nhat Hahn which I felt had a lot more to say about the art of living:

  • The Raft Is Not the Shore: Conversations Toward a Buddhist/Christian Awareness,  (2000)
  • The Art of Living: Peace and Freedom in the Here and Now (2017)

We talked about our "happy moment" [Hahn's idea) and shared our ideas about our inner critic [Cameron's idea].
