For this week's documentary recap we went back and watched The Two Escobars, which is widely considered one of the best ESPN 30 for 30 films episodes even 10 years later.

It chronicles the lives of drug lord Pablo Escobar and Colombia National Team captain Andrés Escobar during the golden years of Colombian soccer which coincided with the darkest days they experienced as a country.   We dissect every angle of the documentary like usual and get into some in depth discussions about what these two went through during this time period.    Among the topics discussed:
  • Pablo Escobar using his love for soccer as a way to launder money
  • Andrés and rise to fame in his home country of Columbia as a soccer star
  • Drug lords as the owners of professional sports teams and the consequences
  • The unique relationship Pablo had with the Columbian players
  • The lengths Pablo went to in order to avoid extradition to the US
  • Andrés' own goal in the '94 World Cup vs. the US and the devastating consequences.
  • An incredible line in the film and another jaw-dropping moment.

We'll hit all that and more. If you want to watch the film, you can find it on ESPN+.
