Success is Measured by Relationships with Networking Expert Dr. Bill Saleebey (also my Dad)

Today’s guest is Dr. Bill Saleebey. Yes, it's my father! Besides being an amazing father, Doc, as I call him, has led a life that many would be envious of. Not because he’s had a fancy title or insane financial success. Because he has led a life on his terms, one filled with genuine relationships and a schedule that’s allowed him to be healthy and joyful. My dad has had what he calls a “dual career” - on one side he’s been in sales for commercial relocation, and on the other, he’s been an author of 4 books, a college professor, and a speaker on the subject of business networking. On the show, we learn how he first found the world of networking and he provides many tactical tips to help anyone wanting to develop as a networker. His years of experience shine through as he offers so many golden nuggets that will both prevent networking mistakes and create positive networking habits. We also learn why after getting his PhD in educational psychology he decided to pursue a career in sales, and how that decision helped to give him a lifestyle and family life that he is thankful for. He also candidly shares how that same decision has caused him to think about what would have happened if he took a different path into academia. This leads to a discussion on the topic of acceptance and how what once bothered him he now recognizes as the right decision. Dr. Bill also shares some of the best sales advice he’s been given, why he values having an insatiable curiosity, and why his parents were his number one mentors. But above all else, what stands out most from this interview is the value my dad places on the relationships he has in his life. As he puts it, his success is measured by relationships, not career or business.
