Never under estimate the power of small talk. I was working as a concierge in the Highland Park community in Texas and at this particular building it had very little traffic. I had permission from upper management that I could bring a book and read at my desk during down time. When the residences and guest would come through the lobby, I would have a small talk with them. There was a gentleman that would stop by the desk to ask me what I was reading and so forth. Through small conversations I got to know his family and children, also he told me that I inspire him. Now this man is a CEO of a well know company and for certain magazines they feature his business often. Well one day it was brought to my attention that his article was wrote about me saying, “I’m a positive guy and a up in coming entrepreneur that has a bright future ahead…” Hearing this news was pretty cool, until I saw and read the whole paragraph it was actually mind-blowing because I didn’t think I had so much influence on so many people. Small talks have opened up so many doors for me and they can too for you. You never know who might come into contact with and you never know who’s listening to what you’re saying.
