Interview with Pablo Berger, director of Robot Dreams, presented at the 76th Festival de Cannes as a Special screening.
Robot Dreams: After reinterpreting the Brothers’ Grimm fable Snow White with his stunning debut feature Blancanieves, Pablo Berger creates his own magic again by turning a famous graphic novel into an animation film: Robot Dreams, presented at the 76th Cannes Film Festival as a special screening. As the film has no dialogues, the famous sentence “Silence speak louder than words” come easily to mind. But, since hopes and dreams are the drive in this Dog-Robot friendship story, we can feel that “Dreams speak louder than words”. Robot Dreams is a film for every audience and is the story of DOG, living in Manhattan, tired of being alone. One day he decides to build himself a robot, a companion. Their friendship blossoms, until they become inseparable, to the rhythm of 80’s NYC. One summer night, DOG, with great sadness, is forced to abandon ROBOT at the beach. Will they ever meet again?
