Locked Out of my Thoughts and the 1980 Draft

  1. We talk a little about the bad timing of the Guardians rebrand right before the Lock-Out. Then we talk a little about how both sides need to figure things out because at the end of the day the fans will end up blaming both sides if the Lock Out goes long. Baseball is not in a position to have a work stoppage and both sides need to find a compromise that leaves them both unhappy as most Americans aren't going to feel bad for billionaires or millionaires.
  2. Doing another draft class review. We focus on the 1980 draft, the draft full of future coaches and executives but not as many good baseball players. The Indians picking 10th took the second-best first-rounder in the class, but he sadly never played for the organization and yet ranks in the top 10 best first-rounders in franchise history. In the second round, their pick was lost and the White Sox drafted a future college football coach.
  3. The Indians would draft a pair of All-Stars after the opening rounds, unfortunately, they would not sign either player. Instead, it is Mike Jefcoat taking in the 13th round who is this draft class’s second player followed by 29th rounder Jack Fimple. Listen in to hear who got away.
