The Democratic Party has little room for error heading into next week's gubernatorial elections. The Democrats are already ill positioned for the 2022 midterms, and a loss in either or both races on Tuesday can cause an electoral catastrophe next year in the 2022 midterms. In both states, Virginia and New Jersey, the polls have been tightening. In the former state, former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is seeking a non-consecutive term amid an arduous fight against businessman and Republican nominee Glenn Youngkin.
