February 24, 1986, Van Nuys, California. Twenty-nine-year-old nurse supervisor and newlywed, Sherri Rasmussen kisses her husband John Reutten goodbye at 7:20 in the morning, saying she’s thinking of calling in sick. When John arrives home that night , his beautiful wife is dead—beaten and shot three times at close range. When LAPD arrives, they decide unilaterally, this is a robbery gone bad. But was it?
