A dear friend of mine introduced me to my guest today, Josephine Richardson. You know how sometimes you meet someone who asks big questions about life? Certainly in my line of work, and hosting Wisdom Talk Radio, that happens a lot. But sometimes you are drawn to find out more, feeling like they have insights about the world that you need to hear. And that others need to hear as well.
Josephine and I talk about growing up in a bi-racial family, policing, the human condition, slavery; about the Haitian Revolution, the first time black people fought and gained their freedom (and how that was hidden from American slaves at that time) and about black agency rather than victimhood.
Josephine Richardson is an eternal knowledge seeker, and occasional joy bringer. Through the study of language, history, and culture she explores humanity’s connections, rather than its divisions. When interested in something, she wants to know everything about it from the best resources, because she wants to be an expert. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in history at CU Denver.
(She also hates writing about herself since she has lived with herself her entire life thus she finds others infinitely more interesting.)
