Ep. 238: How Kulfi Became The First South-Asian Owned Makeup Brand In Sephora - Priyanka Ganjoo
On this week’s episode of the Friends in Beauty podcast I welcome Priyanka Ganjoo to the Friends in Beauty guest chair. After a five-year-long career on the corporate side of the beauty industry, Priyanka saw first-hand how South Asians were being underrepresented in beauty.
Constantly searching for products that matched her skin tone and tired of feeling like an outsider in the industry, Priyanka set out to create a more inclusive beauty conversation. In 2021, she launched Kulfi, a beauty brand centered around joy and celebrating South Asian beauty rooted in culture. Paying homage to her vibrant Indian heritage, Priyanka has relentlessly steered Kulfi towards unparalleled success since its launch, setting new benchmarks in the beauty industry.
From being the first-ever South Asian-owned makeup brand to join Sephora's prestigious lineup to the recent launch of the innovative Free the Brow gel-meets-serum. Priyanka and Kulfi continue to create a dynamic community of beauty lovers and trailblazers with no signs of slowing down.
During our chat we talked about Kulfi being apart of Sephora’s first accelerator program, the importance of building community first, how the brand has grown so quickly, leveraging relationships the right way, her favorite part of running the brand and so much more.
