Episode • Jul 20, 2021 • 1h 54m

Hey friends! Today's conversation is with two of our favourite people, Matt Corker & Chad Clark. This is one you don't want to miss. Matt and Chad are a powerhouse couple. Individually they have incredible lives. From running an Ironman to riding Fondo's, from facilitating yoga teacher training retreats, to managing some of Vancouver's premiere eateries.

During this conversation, we touch on many aspects of Matt and Chad's lives, from growing up gay to the experiences of Vancouver's dating scene. They talk about being very intentional with our relationships and Matt's "5 date rule". We also touch on identifying and challenging privilege and creating a life by design - which for them included having children. We spoke about their journey of finding a surrogate and walking through the process of creating a new life together.

We also talk about:

  • the power of communication, intention, independence and being direct in relationships and dating
  • candour, courage and honesty in relationship
  • coming out and self discovery
  • their differing experiences growing up "religious"
  • the process of becoming new parents; fertility, adoption vs. surrogacy and the intricacies of surrogacy
  • the support of community and the goodness you can find in social media

The Clarkers are well versed in the idea of the power of sharing our stories and lives as a means of helping others. And they share vulnerably as our conversation ends with the dramatic and powerful story of a sudden emergency Matt and Chad faced with little Sasha.

This was a truly meaningful conversation, I hope it impacts you all as much as it did us! As always, we invite you to like this episode and subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss out on our future episodes!

Thanks for listening!
