This week’s revolutionary is Nadje Al-Ali, a feminist activist, academic, and professor at Brown University. Nadje was born in Germany, in a small town near the border of the Netherlands, to an Iraqi father and German mother. Her main research interests revolve around feminist activism and gendered mobilization, mainly with reference to political movements in the Middle East.
Throughout our conversation, Nadje shares insights into how feminism differs across various cultures around the world, and how feminist activists and scholars can come together to make a difference worldwide. She shares how she specifically combines her academic and activist work together, and where she believes feminist scholars should be focusing their efforts nowadays to make real change.
