Does having a Black teacher positively impact the academic achievement of African American students? The research tends to indicate that this is the case. This would be great if it was a common occurrence; however, the number of Black teachers in the American teaching work force is so low it’s abysmal. I discuss what the current research reveals about the current plight of America’s Black teaching workforce and uncover issues and concerns about this critical topic in this episode.
