I first met Hayden during Unleash the Beast in 2019, and then I remained in contact with him via social media. I recently caught up with a previous guest, Steve Kapp, who suggested I reach out to Hayden to ask him on the Podcast. I did this without hesitation and am so glad that I did. Since reaching out, we have been in closer, regular contact.
Hayden was born in Queensland, Australia, where he lived as a beach kid before moving to Brisbane when he was 13. He experienced his father getting lung Cancer, his parents separating, and the loss of his father shortly after.
Hayden then moved to Central Australia to change his life and learn about this land or what the mobs call Country. This led him down an unconsciously traumatised path of addiction for many years. That all changed when he overdosed.
He pursued his dream career as a tattoo artist and street artist and spends time healing, learning and exploring his edge and what it means to be a conscious man in this current world.
In this week's episode, Hayden and I revisit our experience together on Unleash the Beast before Hayden talks about his journey that led him to both alcohol and drug addiction. He openly discusses the impacts of the trauma he underwent as a young person and how that resulted in him living in a world of escapism via drugs and alcohol.
We chat about his journey to leave Brisbane to move to Central Australia to re-discover who he is and his true purpose in life. This led him to reconnect to his skills as a street artist and turn that into becoming a tattooist. This has now extended into his solo artist work, focusing on conscious tattoos. His journey is one of courage, deep inner work and ongoing discovery.
