It was the L.A. Derby that Los Angeles Football Club fans have dreamed of since the team's inception, but not a single supporter was in the house to see it. LAFC burnt the barn against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday, trouncing their crosstown rivals 6-2 in both team's second group stage of the MLS is Back tournament.
With four points earned through two matches after the weekend's big victory over the Galaxy, LAFC controls its own group stage destiny. A victory against the Portland Timbers would clinch group F for LAFC and put it through to the group stage at the top seeded team in the group; LAFC is assured to advance regardless of Thursday's result, but three more points to add to the season's tally are up for grabs.
