On today’s very special episode of Songmess we’re kickstarting our 10-episode Pride series with guest Thales Coimbra; a Brazilian lawyer entrenched in São Paulo’s LGBTQ+ community and working in HIV / AIDS advocacy. We’re diving into Brazilian queer history, paying tribute to musical legends and the new generation bearing the torch of revolution, touching on past and present political strife and delving into the meaning and need for Pride.
This is a long one, filled with laughter and poignant conversations. The first Pride march was a riot, and it’s important to remember our history while learning about the battles our siblings in different corners of the world have fought along the way. This 10-part series is both an opportunity for you, the listener, to discover new music while remembering that queer and trans artists should be supported every day, every month. Not just in June!!!
Happy Pride, and we hope you enjoy!
