After months of review, the District Attorney’s Office announced on Dec. 7 that it would not file criminal charges against three former San Diego State University football players accused of gang raping a 17-year-old high school senior at an off-campus party last year. While the announcement closed one chapter in the high-profile case… a civil lawsuit, a university inquiry and many questions remain. The decision also raised concerns among advocates that it could have a chilling effect on victims of sexual assault who are considering coming forward.
