On today’s very special episode of Songmess we are joined by ambitious folk-pop sextet Sr. Trigger, - the first of 4 consecutive interviews we are dropping with artists from the Northern Mexican city of Chihuahua. We popped in on Alexis, Gabo, Venegas, Miny, Wicho and Edibray, backstage at famed Mexico City venue, Bajo Circuito, for a pre-show interview packed with jams and laughter.
In recent years, Chihuahua has proven a rapidly growing hotbed of folk and psych music, with Sr. Trigger smack in the middle of both movements. The band builds on pop-rock structures while incorporating synthesizers, violin, harmonica and even rapping, resulting in a baroque new concoction that is delightfully twee and emotionally compelling.
Sr. Trigger’s second EP Santa Isabel dropped in the fall of 2018 and the crew is already working on new music. You can look forward to a new video for their single “Donde Está Mi Libreta?” in the coming weeks, as well as new merchandise and tour announcements. Sr. Trigger are young, loud, professional and exceedingly talented, and they should be all over your radar.
