PODCAST | Cristiana Palmieri interviews Elysia Zeccola, director of the Italian Film Festival.
Festival Director Elysia Zeccola explores this year’s program that includes two very fresh films direct from their world premieres: Francesca Archibugi’s highly anticipated ensemble drama The Hummingbird (Il colibrì), direct from Toronto International Film Festival (Gala); and Gianni Amelio‘s Lord of The Ants (Il signore delle formiche), straight from Venice Film Festival (in Competition). The opening night film is the hilarious comedy Belli Ciao that delivers a light-hearted north versus south culture clash. The closing night film is a tribute to the best Italian cinema of the sixties, the Oscar-winning trilogy of romantic comedies Yesterday, today and tomorrow (Ieri, oggi e domani), set in different parts of Italy, with Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni from acclaimed director Vittorio De Sica.
The Italian Film Festival opens in Sydney on the 13h September and it runs nationally in Australia at Palace Cinemas until the 19th October.
