Sometimes you can't just ignore when there is lipstick on a pig. That's how I feel about mass site building boons - all the promise all the glory and all the work that will ultimately lead to good old elbow grease when it comes to making those things actually rank if there is any local component to it.
I don't have anything to sell on mass sites so I guess its Ok for me to share my honest opinion and what in practice it takes to make them rank. It is not push button simple and honestly, some that I've seen you literally can not get there from here.
Which is why I call it the "Thorny Path".
In the real world The Thorny Path is a "nearshore route, picked through the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos, then along the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to the Virgin Islands. "I-65" is an offshore route that takes you east to longitude 65°W to avoid the trade winds before turning south to sail across them instead of dead upwind." [source]- Apparently its a sailing hack.
That's why I call mass sites - "The Thorny (SEO) Path".
