Each year the Camden Diocese hosts a week-long overnight retreat for young people organized by the Office of Youth, Young Adults and Campus Ministry. In a normal year, Summer in the City would involve dozens of teenagers taking part in opportunities for service in places like soup kitchens and senior centers as well as prayer throughout the day as they focus on the four pillars of the program: Service, Community, Social Justice & Spirituality. However, this year Summer in the City has gone virtual, like many other elements of our normal lives. Hosts Mary McCusker and Mike Walsh chat with Office Director Jose Rodriguez and SITC junior advisor Cristina Velazquez about why Summer in the City is such a great experience for young people and how they plan to try and replicate it this year.
