Erkeda DeRouen, M.D. is a board-certified Family Medicine physician who was born and raised in the DC area. She studied biology at the illustrious Hampton University, eventually attending medical school at Boston University School of Medicine. She trained then trained at the University of Maryland Family and Community Medicine Residency Program. As a physician with an administrative background, Erkeda DeRouen serves as a thought leader in healthcare innovation. She is passionate about merging the humanistic aspect of medicine with the new field of emerging technology. She has gained extensive experience in the people management realm, while managing a team of doctors remotely across the country. She believes in putting people first, whether that be in patient care, management, or in her personal life. She has been able to utilize her gift of listening, communicating, and connecting the missing pieces to solve complex problems. Her unique skillset includes, but is not limited to healthy equity expertise, service of underserved populations, HIV management, transgender care, and lifestyle medicine. Dr. DeRouen brings a diversity to the realm with a goal to shake up the landscape to provide compassionate care to all who seek it. She finds joy in mentoring, as she believes that one should always share their gifts to uplift others. Recently, she started to host a pre-med and medical student geared podcast to expand the amount of people that she can mentor. She is open to speaking engagements.
