Make it four victories in season four season openers for Los Angeles Football Club. LAFC welcomed an expansion team to the league with a loss for the second consecutive season opener, beating F.C. Austin 2-0 at Banc of California Stadium in the first match of the club's fourth season.
LAFC opened the season with a clean sheet, but the day wasn't without its challenges. Carlos Vela left with a phantom injury in the first half and 60 minutes into the match, Austin's defense was proving difficult to break down for LAFC. Corey Baird's first LAFC goal was the highlight of the day, while Jose Cifuentes' strike in added time put the match on ice.
