Dissident‘s producer Aleksandr Omelyanov explains the reason for producing a film that tells a story based on the politically complex history of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, and how he and the director decided to navigate the difficult balance between historical accuracy and creative storytelling.

Dima Yaroshenko explains how he approached the character he plays in the film, working on the many layers of the personality of his character. Dissident creates a strong link between the events that happened in the 70’s and 80’s in Ukraine and its ongoing struggle for identity and independence.
