Elizabeth Franklin-Best has practiced criminal
defense exclusively for the past 20 years. After
beginning her journey as a trial level public
defender, for the past 16 years she has focused on
appellate law. She has represented clients in
direct appeal, federal post-conviction, in the
circuit courts of appeal, and in the United States
Supreme Court. She handles complex felony
convictions and has represented more than 15
death penalty defendants.
These days she’s focusing on challenging federal
clients’ firearms convictions in light of the recent
United States Supreme Court case, New York
State Pistol & Rifle Ass’n, Inc. v. Bruen (2022) and
assisting clients obtain their freedom by
preparing compassionate release petitions. Her
team represents clients throughout the United
States.
