Today’s episode of Music Is Life Podcast is a special one. Growing up, I was a huge fan of Jim Henson’s Muppets, and I still am. One of the best things to watch around the Christmas holiday season is “Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas,” among other Henson specials.
For Part 1 of our discussion on Emmet Otter and Jim Henson, I’ve invited a friend of mine onto the podcast to speak about their experience as an intern for The Jim Henson Company and their fandom for the Muppets.
Melissa Scopelitis is a friend of mine that I met on a Muppet Facebook Group. She is an alumni of St. John’s College from St. John’s University (class of 1999), who was an intern at Henson for one semester. Here, she discusses how she got into the Muppets, how she came upon her internship, her experience in helping to set up the Jim Henson Exhibit at the Museum of the Moving image in Astoria, NY, and her funniest experience at a Muppet convention involving a cast member of “Muppets Take Manhattan” and a member of Cheech & Chong.”
We also discuss our love for Emmet Otter and other timeless Muppet Holiday specials.
