Episode 270: Susan Kilrain - Former NASA Astronaut

On this episode, Derek sits with Susan Kilrain.  Susan is a former Naval Aviator and NASA Astronaut.  She will be discussing her desire to be an astronaut at a young age, a chance encounter with a NASA legend, joining the US NAVY as a pilot of various aircraft including the F-14 Tomcat, to being selected by NASA as an astronaut pilot.  She will then talk about the training program and being selected to be the youngest person to ever pilot the Space Shuttle on STS-83 and STS-94.  Susan will discuss life in detail the launch of space shuttle Columbia, life in space and reentry and her career post NASA including co-authoring the children's book, “The Unlikely Astronaut”.
