It has been a long 15 months, but as of June 5th, in the State of New Jersey the dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass is lifted. It’s the most notable step in the “return to normalcy” since churches were reopened for Mass mid-pandemic. This benchmark got our host Mike Walsh and his guest Donna Ottaviano-Britt, director of discipleship and leadership for the Diocese of Camden, to begin thinking about the possibilities available to our parishes - priests, lay leaders and the faithful - for recreating or creating anew opportunities to welcome those who have been away from the parish community during the pandemic, or before the pandemic, or even those who have always avoided the faith. Donna and Mike have a great chat about how this time away has given us new insights into what our parishes can provide the faithful and what we can do to offer a sense of community that helps bring people to the Mass and to God.
