On 28 May 1934, on a small farm in Canada, Elzire Dionne beat the odds to give birth to five identical girls. They are the first recorded quintuplets in the world to survive infancy. The girls became wards of the state, housed in a nursery that eventually turned into Quintland, a tourist attraction for visitors from around the world.
