Daz and Steve chat with David MacDiarmid, Managing Director of the Steven Gerrard Academy.

Having spent his playing days as a Liverpool FC Junior, David enjoyed a successful semi-professional career playing in the National League of Wales, North West Counties, and Northern Premier League. David was a mainstay in the hugely successful Allerton FC Sunday league club reaching National Cup Finals and winning leagues and cups for many years.

During this time he pursued a coaching pathway gaining the UEFA B License. He led Knowsley Schoolboys for several years coaching the likes of West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell (West Ham) and Ryan Edwards (Plymouth) and numerous others now pursuing careers in the lower leagues. David spent 12 years at LFC Academy coaching the likes of Neco Williams and Curtis Jones in their formative years.

In 2011 MacDiarmid developed and established Liverpool Football College as one of the most successful Education and Football 16-18 programmes in the country. Among their successes at the College include winning the 2017 Dallas Cup, National Champions 2014 and overseeing the likes of Paul Mullins (Huddersfield Town, Morecambe and Swindon Town), Tony Donaldson (Doncaster Rovers) and Tejan Brima (CLUB DEPORTIVO CASTUERA).

In 2018 Steven Gerrard officially became involved in the college which was renamed Steven Gerrard Academy.
