It wasn't too long ago that the idea of becoming a first-time mom after 50 was a crazy idea. But thanks to celebrities like Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson, Hoda Kotb, and so many other women the idea doesn't seem so crazy anymore. Journalist Richelle Carey always planned to settle down, find a partner and start a family when her busy career would allow. As time ticked on, she decided to become more intentional about this dream; she froze her eggs, later endured a round of IVF, and ultimately embarked on an adoption journey. Just last year, Carey welcomed home her son at age 49. She shares the details of her story and how she plans to raise her Black son in today's world. Carey hopes other single women in her position can find inspiration and joy in her story and process.
