Actor Michael K Williams was just found dead.

A lot of people don’t know that Michael K Williams who played Omar on the wire was actually discovered by Tupac Shakur. 

According to the New York Post: 

“The Wire’’ actor Michael K. Williams was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose in his Brooklyn penthouse Monday afternoon, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Williams was discovered unconscious in the dining room of his luxury Williamsburg pad with what appeared to be heroin on the kitchen table, sources said." 

Michael K Williams was born in Brooklyn, the son of a Bahamian mother from Nassau and Booker T. Williams, an American, from Greeleyville, South Carolina, where his African-American family has deep roots.  Williams was raised in the Vanderveer Projects in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and attended George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School. According to a DNA analysis, he is descended partly from the Mende people of Sierra Leone.

After getting in some trouble as a youth, he enrolled at the National Black Theatre in New York City.
