In these episodes, Dr. Sara Helvey speaks with Colleen Milroy, MD, MHCM. Dr. Milroy is the Division Director and REI at UNC Fertility. She received Board Certifications in both Ob/Gyn and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and has more than 10 years of experience in this space. Prior to coming to UNC, she successfully managed REI programs at the University of Kansas and in Billings, Montana. In addition, she achieved a Master’s in Healthcare Management to further her leadership and operational skills. Her clinical interests include IVF, RPL, Oncofertility, and minimally invasive surgeries. During our conversation, we discuss several topics, including what to test for in order to determine the current state of your ovarian reserve. We also discuss some of the more common procedures you may encounter during a fertility journey and what to expect. We also learn about how to best advocate for yourself both personally and professionally so that you can have more autonomy around family planning and the fertility process if you find yourself needing these services. We hope you take a listen, as we feel it is packed with incredibly valuable information for young people considering parenthood but are trying to manage their busy careers.
