Dave presents an idea from loyal listener Phil from Punxutawney [possibly not his real name] whereby the whole country could be vaccinated in 13 weeks. Phil reasoned if garbage trucks could do pickups every week, why can't the feds procure a fleet of medical vans staffed with "shooters" ? Follow Dave's math and you'll see how it could be done for $3 billion, not exactly chump change but literally a drop in the bucket called the federal budget. No, Dave is not going into the math details here; trust him. Del unexpectedly provides a faster, cheaper option: Just use all those Amazon vans clogging the roads.
Del tells us about the time he was drafted as a guide for an African safari in a private game preserve, charged with finding elephants for his clients. These are the largest land mammals, right? Should be easy to find, right? Maybe. Maybe not.
Dave reviews an adventure essay by Kim Cross about two cyclists traveling in opposite directions across Europe and Asia. He's struck by the poetic beauty of the writing and the majesty of the epic journeys of an American and a Brit. What are the chances these two strangers would meet at a desert cafe at the edge of nowhere? But that's not even the best part. Del once again almost reviews The Road to Gandolfo, an offbeat book by author Robert Ludlum writing as Michael Shepherd. It could be humorous, we're not sure since Del doesn't really tell us the plot or anything else about the book. The moral according to Del seems to be that once you're successful you can do anything you want. Just sayin....
We wrap it up with words of wisdom from Jackie Kennedy that Dave has had pasted in his folio for 20 years.
