Jeremy & Dr. G sit down with Dr. Jacqueline Battalora, author of Birth of a White Nation: The Invention of White People and Its Relevance Today. Her work explores the creation of whiteness as a legal evolution on the pseudo-science of race through the creation of whiteness in the legal code of 1681 Virginia and beyond. Jacqueline is an attorney and professor of sociology at Saint Xavier University, Chicago, and a former Chicago Police Officer. Battalora is an editor for the Journal of Understanding and Dismantling Privilege.

She completed her law degree and came to Chicago to practice. Her interest in the role of law in creating human difference shaped her graduate work at Northwestern University, where she received her Ph.D. She is listed with the National Speakers Association and is represented by SpeakOut. Birth of a White Nation is available for discounted purchase for a limited time at https://bit.ly/JacquelineBattalora with the discount code ADC22. We appreciate Routledge for the generous opportunity to add this book to your library.

This is one of the best conversations we have been honored to host on the Plowline Podcast. We hope you will give it a listen.
